What is the Contest Timeline?
- Enter as many app ideas as you can develop from August 14th, 2009 to September 20th, 2009. You will then have until September 27th to complete your fully functional applications and upload videos and images to help promote them during voting.

Who can enter?
- Anyone over 18 or the age of majority who is looking to create innovative applications
- Legal U.S. residents located within the U.S.
- Anyone with entries that fall into one of the following five categories:
- Connect (Social, Networking, Communication tools, News, Weather, and Sports)
- Entertain (Games, Entertainment, Music, Video, Books and Multimedia)
- Guide (LBS, Travel, Dining)
- Save Time (Productivity, Tools/Utilities, Business, Finance, or Reference)
- Enhance Living (Lifestyle, Health, Security, and Shopping)

How do I enter?
- Registration and application entries will be handled via the contest website at www.applyyourideas.com, not through mail or email
- Go to www.applyyourideas.com/register to register
- Once your application is complete, log into www.applyyourideas.com to upload your application(s).

What are the prizes?
- Grand Prize
- $50,000 cash prize
- 200% of Application revenue actually received by Verizon Wireless relating to the sale of the winning Application (the "Application Revenue") for the first twelve (12) months Application is available on V CAST Apps to a maximum of Application Revenue plus $100,000
- Application will be featured on www.verizonwireless.com for 2 weeks
- Application will be integrated into Verizon's marketing for the Penske Racing/Verizon Championship Racing program
- Application will be integrated in event materials in Dew Action Sports Winter Games/Verizon Wireless program
- Application will be included in select Verizon Wireless marketing communication materials
- Application will be featured in the V CAST Apps storefront for two (2) weeks
- People's Choice
- $25,000 cash prize
- 100% of Application Revenue for the first twelve (12) months Application is available on V CAST Apps
- Application will be included in select Verizon Wireless marketing communication materials
- Application will be featured in the relevant category storefront of V CAST Apps for one (1) week
- Five category winners
- $10,000 cash prize for top winner in each category
- A Verizon Wireless device with a retail value up to $500 and $2000 Verizon Wireless Gift Card
- Application will be featured in the relevant category storefront of V CAST Apps for one (1) week
- Application will be included in select Verizon Wireless marketing communication materials

What is the judging criteria?
Anyone registered with the Verizon Developer Community Website is eligible to vote based upon the following criteria: innovation, quality and consumer appeal. The grand prize winner will be chosen by a panel of judges based upon the following criteria:
- Originality and Innovation (25%)
- How new or novel the application is in contrast to other current applications and entries
- Quality of product, visual and user experience (25%)
- Overall execution of the application, ease of use and visual appeal
- Product or service appeal (20%)
- What is the potential penetration rate for this application in the market based on its entertainment appeal or service appeal
- Technical execution (20%)
- How well the product functions based on its overall usage description
- Value proposition (10%)
- How well the value proposition and description match the overall application entered

How do the winners get chosen?
- Step 1: App Verification - September 28th - September 29th
- Verizon verifies that apps qualify in terms of functionality and comprehensiveness
- Step 2: Round 1 Voting - Sept. 30th - Oct. 4th - UPDATE
- Based on the number of eligible submissions, all qualifying entries will advance to the semi-finals
- Step 3: Semi-Finalist Applications – Oct. 6th
- Semi-finalists to be formally announced at CTIA on October 6th
- Step 4: Round 2 Voting - Oct. 7th - 18th
- Online community votes for the finalists to determine Category Winners and the People's Choice award
- Step 5: Grand Prize Judging - Oct. 19th - 29th
- Judges apply criteria to determine Grand Prize winner from category winners

What do I need to complete to be eligible?
- Registrants can enter as many applications as they like into as many categories
- Applications must be new RIM BlackBerry applications which have not previously been made commercially available for RIM BlackBerry.
- Verizon will validate functionality of all entries.
- Entrants must include a detailed description of their applications

How do I upload my applications?
- Starting August 21st, you can submit, manage and edit your application ideas for the contest. Then on August 28th, you can upload your apps using our upload tool.
